Col, who set a Guinness world record in 2006, is using recycled items to teach rhythms. He brought a series of restaurant buckets and 44 gallon drums to the school to use as drums.

According to Col, this helps reducing costs for parents and helps saving the environment:

"It's about renovating the planet. Plus it's affordable for getting kids interested in what it is all about. You can make lots of different rhythms with the sticks and it’s quite successful. It helps figure out who really wants to play the drums and even those who don’t progress to the drum kit pick up a lot of co-ordination skills.

Students gain performance skills, an insight into the industry and knowledge of drum beats. Adds Col:

"The kids were really quiet to start with but now they are very loud and are beaming with excitement."
