All nominees for the Brit Awards 2006 were announced yesterday, January 10. The Brit Awards are the annual UK pop music awards founded by the British Phonographic Industry.

New boys James Blunt and the Kaiser Chiefs lead the pack with five nods each, leaving Coldplay, KT Tunstall (photo), Franz Ferdinand and Robbie Williams behind.
U2, Madonna, Green Day and Jack Johnson are nominated for a Brit Award in the category best international act.
Drummer Nick Hodgson and the rest of Kaiser Chiefs are nominated foran Award as best group, best album, best rock act, best live act and best breakthrough act.
James Blunt, playing with Karl Brazil, Brian McCloud and Charlie Paxson on drums and percussion, is nominated for an Award as best male solo artist, best album, best breakthrough act, best single and best pop act.
Paul Weller receives the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music Award this year. Weller is one of England’s musical heroes. Nicknamed The Modfather, Paul Weller is cited by many British bands from 1995 to the present day as a major influence.
With Chris Evans hosting the show, the Brit Awards 2006 take place in London on February 15.
Robbie Williams, Franz Ferdinand and Gwen Stefani were among the artists who took home a Brit Award in 2005.
