Jerry Carrigan, Nashville studio legend and one of the first session drummers for Muscle Shoals area studios, picked up the Music Creator Award during the 2010 Alabama Music Hall of Fame. The induction ceremonies took place on March 25, 2010, at the Convention Center in Montgomery, Alabama. Jerry said:\"I\'ve dreamed of things like this but I never thought anything like this would happen to me.\"
The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, also known as The Swampers, was a group of session musicians - including Jerry Carrigan on drums - that recorded tracks at places such as the legendary FAME (Florence Alabama Music Enterprises) recording studios.
This year\'s Alabama Music Hall of Fame inductees also included The Blind Boys of Alabama (featuring Ricky McKinnie on drums, percussion and vocals), Buddy Buie, the O\'Jays\' lead singer Eddie Levert, producer/musician Paul Hornsby, late Muscle Shoals musician Terry Thompson and State Senator Bobby Denton.
David Johnson, executive director of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame, explained it\'s difficult choosing from the best of the best:
\"We only do this every other year, and we only end up with 4, 5, or 6 people, so it really becomes a real hard chore picking who should get it this time.\"
