Mississippi Girl by Faith Hill is the 500 millionth song downloaded on Apple\'s iTunes. Amy Greer of Lafayette, Indiana, bought the song on July 17th, 2005.

Setting a new milestone for the digital music business, the iTunes Music Store has sold more than 500 million songs, providing music fans with the best music download experience on Mac or PC.
As iTunes is offering the world\'s largest download catalog, people can select from more than 1.5 million tracks from all four major music companies and over 1,000 leading independent labels.
Music fans can legally obtain the music for 99 dollar cents per song.
Currently, Jessica Simpson, Foo Fighters, Missy Elliot, Coldplay and Black Eyed Peas are amongst the most popular artists downloaded.
Itunes was launched in April 2003 and is planning on selling music videos as downloads as well in the near future.
