A blazing trumpet section swinging saxophones a group of blaring trombones melodic vocals a driving, exciting rhythm section great individual instrumentalists. When you put all of that together in a bowl and mix it up, what's the result? It signals the arrival of a new Latin Giants of Jazz recording.
The advent of this band's new cd serves up to be an important event as it is the third in a trilogy of cds for the Gigante Record label as well as the performance and presentation of something new and exciting: "Ven Baila Conmigo," which in English means "Come dance with me."
In this new musical production, the Latin Giants of Jazz have offered up a wonderful collection of dance music that is sure to please even the most critical listener and dancer. From the opening strains of "Lo Que Traigo Es Salsa" to the exciting closing notes of "Cuando Suenan Los Cueros," the orchestra's formula of success is keenly and masterfully applied. This is a wonderful program of color, variety and party tunes that are both listenable and always danceable. It's an irresistible swinging exciting dance set that never grows boring or tiresome.
The songs sparkle with great musical arrangements that showcase the dynamic sound and force of the band. Returning on vocals again is one of the finest soneros in the business today, Frankie Vazquez. His tremendous interpretation of these mambos, cha chas and guaguancos bring all of these melodies to life.
Joining Frankie in this set is Cita Rodriguez (the daughter of the wonderful late sonero Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez) who contributes a fiery rendition of a swinging guaracha that is sure to please and surprise. Also, for all of the Latin-Jazz followers, we have included two delightful, bright up tempo mambo renditions.
For all those that are aficionados of the real, authentic Latin big band style, (not the wannabe bands that are still trying to copy it) this offering will cause you to smile, tap your feet and listen over and over again. So since the band is playing, the rhythm is being poured on and the dancers are moving to this driving sound, without further adieu, we now invite you to come and join us at this party… "Ven Baila Conmigo."
