This release was originally issued as "Powerplay", released in The Netherlands only in 2000. One year later, Belgium label Music Avenue re-released the album with different track order and one bonus song (Desperate Man, feat. Pete Lovell of Vengeance) throughout Europe under the name of "Dance with an Angel".

In a showdown with his drumkit, resulting in a refreshing shower of overwhelming solo's and skillful drumparts leaning on a tight uptempo powerbeat, Ernst van Ee shows his knack of drumming on his first solo-CD Powerplay. Dressed up with flashing guitars and powerful vocals the twelve tracks on Powerplay make a spicy, though savoury heavy metal-album.
For the recordings of Powerplay Ernst called in the help of Dutch rock celebrities Peter Magnee, Robert Soeterboek (Ayreon) and Stan Verbraak (Helloïse). The nine heavy metal songs on Powerplay are inspired by artists such as Judas Priest, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Dream Theater and Pantera. Powerplay includes a tribute to Cozy Powell (Dance With An Angel), the Sweet-cover Sixteens in a 90's metal jacket and a heavy instrumental in the tradition of Friedman and Vai.
