The album is the first Triggerfinger studio album without Monsieur Paul (Paul Van Bruystegem). Burton, who had previously been playing guitar with the band on stage, takes over bass duties in the new configuration.
The album was written and recorded in Antwerp and Los Angeles. Block and Goossens worked with American producer Mitchell Froom, who had previously produced Triggerfinger's Colossus.
Froom's involvement appears to have been more than simply conventional production. The band have described working without predetermined stylistic rules, with Froom encouraging them to explore different approaches to composition, harmony and arrangement.
