Michael Kelly “Mike” Finnigan (April 26, 1945, Troy, Ohio, United States) is an American keyboard player and vocalist, his speciality being the B3 Hammond Organ.
He attended University of Kansas on a basketball scholarship.
Mike Finnigan has toured and sessioned for Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Etta James, Sam Moore, Crosby Stills and Nash, Dave Mason, Buddy Guy, Manhattan Transfer, Taj Mahal, Michael McDonald, Maria Muldaur, Peter Frampton, Cher, Ringo Starr, Leonard Cohen, Tower of Power, Rod Stewart, David Coverdale, Tracy Chapman, Los Lonely Boys, and Bonnie Raitt.
He recorded two solo records in the 1970s, one with Jerry Wood. He later collaborated with two other Columbia Artists, Les Dudek and Jim Krueger, with whom he formed DFK (Dudek, Finnigan, and Krueger) in 1978. More recently, his work featured on the CD by The Finnigan Brothers (NashFilms Records), a collaboration with his younger brother Sean and founding member of Bread, Robb Royer.
This was Mike Finnigan's second solo effort, released on Columbia Records. Unlike the posthumous 2026 release, this album captures Finnigan at the height of the AOR (Adult Oriented Rock) era, shortly before he formed the DFK band with Les Dudek and Jim Krueger.
Original Vinyl: The US release (JC 35258) typically came in a gatefold sleeve with a custom-printed inner sleeve containing full technical credits.
International Liner Notes: While the 1978 original focused on credits, the 2013 and 2016 Japanese CD reissues on Sony Music included expanded liner notes by Japanese music historians such as Toshikazu Kanazawa.
