Aggressive, meticulous, passionate, righteous - all distinguishing traits that have come to symbolize the fundamentals of metal/hardcore pioneers Pro-Pain. Since their crushing 1992 NAIRD nominated debut album "Foul Taste Of Freedom", Pro-Pain have become a staple in the diets of heavy music listeners around the globe. Their successful and enviable career has perpetually prospered throughout it's course, and yet they still manage to find room to improve, and more importantly, impress.
The year 2007 marks the 15 Year Anniversary of Pro-Pain and the release of the above mentioned debut. Their latest offering "Age Of Tyranny / The Tenth Crusade" is not only symbolic as being the band's 10th studio album, but the term "Tenth Crusade" is also a rhetorical device that builds an analogy between the U.S. led "War On Terrorism" and the historical Crusades.
Pro-Pain singer/founder Gary Meskil states: "This is about as close as we've come to creating a full fledged concept album, in that it's content never veers from what is generally being implied by the broader album title(s). He adds: "It is believed by many that our leaders are rushing us to Armageddon via a self-fulfilling prophecy which deviously mirrors that of Biblical Prophecy, and that rapture-ready Christianity remains complicit for obvious reasons. These are terrible yet interesting times. Unfortunately , not too many artists have written about it, and the ones that have, only seem to have scratched the surface. Pro-Pain have consistently gone much deeper than that".
Songs such as "The New Reality", 'Beyond The Pale" (feat. Matt Bizilia from Icarus Witch), and "All For King George" all speak loudly for the album's musical diversity, which covers all aspects of Pro-Pain's hardcore, metal, and classic rock n' roll roots and influences. "Age Of Tyranny / The Tenth Crusade" is an album for the ages.
Formed by vocalist/bassist Gary Meskil (ex-Crumbsuckers), New York-based Pro-Pain have over the years benefited from substantial support from an ever growing loyal fan base, the Metal Press, Hard Rock Radio, and MTV Headbanger’s Ball. In 2004, the band returned to MTV programming, clocking in regular and repeated rotation with “Can You Feel It.”
With guitarists Tom Klimchuck, Eric Klinger (ex-Spudmonsters) and drummer JC Dwyer (ex-Paingod), the band’s worldwide catalog sales nears one million units. Advance plans have the band set to tour the US and Europe extensively in support of "Age Of Tyranny / The Tenth Crusade".
