Zachary Alford, born and raised in New York, began playing drums at age 10 after his mom bought him a second hand drum set... he never looked back. "My neighborhood was full of drummers." Zachary says. "Peter "Phoenix" Rivera, Sterling Campbell, Ben Perowsky and Poogie Bell all lived within a 10 block radius." At age 15 Zachary met Charley Drayton at the 7th Avenue South Night Club, galvanizing his commitment and direction as a drummer.
Throughout his high school years, Zach Alford played clubs interacting with scores of New York musicians at the Peppermint Lounge, The Ritz, CBGB's, The Pyramid Club and the infamous Music Building at 38th Street and 8th Ave. It was at such clubs that Zachary found himself rubbing shoulders with future stars such as Madonna, Vernon Reid and Jean Michel Basquiat. These experiences provided him with a rich and diverse atmosphere for playing different styles and gaining professional experience.
