Awarded a percussion scholarship, Voyce studied at Norfolk State University. He was a member of the marching Spartan Legion & the celebrated Million Dollar Funk Squad. Excelling in the jazz, wind & percussion ensembles, he accompanied Clark Terry, Dr. Billy Taylor & played alongside classmate & future Yanni violinist, Karen Briggs.
He studied mallet-keyboards with Mario Gaetano (University of North Carolina), timpani with John Paul Lindberg (principle percussionist, Virginia Opera Association & Virginia Symphony) & rudimental swing with Master-Sergeant Myles E. Overton (United States Army Continental Band).
He went on to enjoy a summer in Boston at the Berklee School of Music before moving west to study television & film scoring at UCLA. Voyce is also a graduate of the well-known Percussion Institute of Technology in Hollywood, where he also studied privately with the renowned session drummer, Gregg Bissonette.

Voyce is also contributing to the drummers' community as an author. Voyce has written for The Spartan Echo, the National Drum Association Magazine, Musician Institute Notes & Upstrokes and the PROMARK percussion educators newsletter.
