Was born in Helmond November 1975 and raised in Veldhoven and Eindhoven. At a ge 17, after listening to some very inspiring records started to play drums. Graduated in 1995 (VWO) and started studying Cultural Anthropology at the Universities of Utrecht (Holland). Soon discovered that he liked drumming more and consequently preferred a career in music and changed to the Brabants Conservatorium to study drums and percussion in September 1996. Got introduced to Brazilian music and rhythms when he joined the band Medicamento in the end of 1997.
In the meantime also started his own band Picol ę , which played a funny mixture of latinfunksalsajungle-jazz, and had joined Michiel Westerhuis to give courses in Brazilian percussion. In July 2000 he successfully finished his studies at the conservatory and left for Brazil in January 2001. After coming back, he did numerous gigs as percussionist as well domestically as internationally with amongst others Medicamento and performed at numerous parties and known and unknown festivals.
Left for almost two months to Rio de Janeiro, January 2002 to get to know more about Samba. Took the drum stool with the lounge music-band Gare du Nord in January 2003, with which he performed in venues like Paradiso (Amsterdam, Holland) and Club First (Moscow, Russia). Started in the end of 2003 the project “Samba” where many musicians both domestic and international, participated in an unique project in which samba tunes were played and sung accompanied by a large group of drummers (bateria) of about 50 people.
Plays since the beginning of 2004 samba at a high-level, in the Rotterdam based bateria Bloco Coringa. Teaches drums at the Art Centre Helmond since September 2004. Also performs together with the latin-jazz trio Q Boa!, plays Brazilian tunes with sextet Itapipoca and substitutes teachers of drums at several music schools. Furthermore gives regularly workshops Brazilian percussion and rhythms.
