Tim Waterson (1961) has the world's fastest feet. He broke his own world record during the Worlds Fastest Drummer Competition World Finals January 22, 2002 at Musicians Institute, Hollywood with 1406 beats in 60 seconds playing double strokes.



In 2001 Waterson had set a new record for Speed Drumming, pushing the limits of The Extreme Sport Drumming movement by drumming 1239 beats in 60 secounds playing double strokes. This record was certified by the World's Fastest Drummers (W.F.D.) and recognized by the Guinness Book of Records.



Tim grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Tim started drumming on a kit at the age of 12 when his mother decided that even though they were dinted she wanted her pots and pans back. He started playing double bassdrums when he was in a band at 16 and they used to let him do lots of solos. On Drums.com Tim tells:

"(...) So I stated experimenting with using the bassdrums in 2 or 3 note patterns mixed in with tom fills and of course the power endings. It wasn't until i saw Tommy Aldridge with Pat Travers that my concept of double bass drumming came to life."

Remarkebly enough Tim's singles with his feet are not even close compare to his doubles. He is at 1030 officially singles and 1407 doubles. Unofficially he has done 1050 singles but unfortunately no video to prove it. As for doubles he has 1454 on video and 250 in 10 seconds. In the same interview Tim reveils:

"I am doing a lot more doubles than I used to. I had a car accident in 2000 and this has forced me to change the way I approach playing the drums. I used to be able to play singles at almost any speed I wanted for a long time and be totally relaxed. I would eventually run out of energy and sweat! But now my back and shoulders experience a lot of pain doing fast singles for an extended period of time."

Tim Anderson's all time favorites include Buddy Rich,Joe Morello, Jim Chapin, Billy Cobham, Jeff Porcaro, Bonzo, Ian Paice, Bozzio, Tommy Aldridge, Virgil Donati, Mike Portnoy, Dom famularo, Zoro, Johnny Rabb, Mike Mangini, Marco Minnemann and Thomas Lang.



For the past twenty years, Tim has been teaching drums privately in addition to his constant perfroming and recording in a variety of musical situations.



In 1998 Tim was credited with the first place in the Canwood Drumwarz Competion in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In 1990 he uuthored his first instructional drum video entitled "Drumming Creatively". Tim's passion and enthusiasm for drums and drumming that inspired him to form the Drumcussion Society in 1999. It's a non-profit society promoting drums and drumming throughout the community by presenting workshops and clinics, by local percussionists.
