Steven Wiig never realized that his first jam session with Jason Newsted in a hotel room in Cleveland, Ohio would lead him to become the drummer in Papa Wheelie.



On the road together for the Metallica Load tour, midwestern "brothors" Steve and Jason stayed up all night writing and recording songs based on tabloid headlines and other bizarre tales under the name The Guzzinta Bros. The two would continue to play together on and off the road whenever and wherever the opportunity presented itself, sharing a severe passion for big, fat riffs and loud, hard drums.



For a few years following the infamous "FreakBitches" Session, Steve Wiig would visit The Chophouse and sit in on guitar, bass, and drums, among a number of different line-ups and projects.



Eventually, he decided to relocate to Northern California from the midwest and, in so doing, became Papa Wheelie's permanent drummer.



Born as Steven Ray Wiig in Ishpeming, Michigan on December 30, 1972, Steve is also known as a film actor, director, and producer. He appears in the films Into the Wild under director (and Academy Award-winning actor) Sean Penn, Some Kind of Monster, directed by Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky, and Gus Van Sant's San Francisco-based film Milk.



For a long time Steve was Executive Personal Assistant to Metallica's founder and drummer Lars Ulrich, as well as a close friend.



Factoid: Steve Wiig played bass for Metallica at The Playboy Mansion in 1998 (filling in for Jason Newsted) and in 2003 Steve appeared in Metallica's award winning documentary 'Some Kind Of Monster'.
