Steve Foley joined the Replacements as their drummer in 1990, at the tail end of the alternative rock band's career. He substitued for original Replacements drummer Chris Mars.
Steve Foley had previously played in Minneapolis bands such as Curtiss A, Wheelo (a band formed with songwriter Pete Lack), Routine 11, Bang Zoom, and Snaps.
Steve never recorded with the Replacements, but played live during their last All Shook Down tour, including their final show on July 4, 1991, in Chicago's Grant Park.
Afterward, the drummer and his brother Kevin joined Stinson's band Bash & Pop. In the late '90s Steve also rejoined Wheelo.
Steve Foley died on August 24, 2008 in Minneapolis after accidentally overdosing on prescription medication. He was 49.
