Steve Flynn started playing drums at age 15. Probably the most major drumming influence in his life has been that of Neal Peart which becomes clearly evident after hearing him play. Steve was one of the founding members of the now "Legendary" proggressive metal pioneer band "Atheist" in 1985.
After loosing his best freind Roger Patterson (bass player for Atheist) in a bus accident, Steve found it increasingly difficult to go on playing with Atheist. He decided to leave in 1992 and started college at Florida State immediately thereafter.
Steve Flynn was featured on the band's first two albums. He left the band in 1991 and went back to college. For their third release "Elements" in 1993, they had Josh Greenbaum sitting behind the drum kit and Marcel Dissantos as a touring drummer.
Steve started getting the itch to play again in 2004. In late 2004, after placing an ad in Atlantamusican.com, Steve Flynn met with bass player Stephen Morley and guitarist Sonny Carson to see if they would click. They did, the rest is history.
Steve Flynn's style of drumming is hard to pin a label on. His drumming skills cover a full spectrum of musical styles including Death Metal, Thrash, Jazz, and Salsa. His signature sound has got to be adding timbale in the middle of some technical metal. Trust him to make it fit perfectly!
