Born in Pomona, California in 1965, Scott Reeder started playing the drums in 1978. Currently he plays drums in stoner rockers Fu Manchu, where he replaced Brant Bjork who departed in 2001. Nomadic musician Bjork left just before the start of the California Crossing tour in 2002. Previously Scott Reeder played bass guitar in The Obesessed and Kyuss (featuring drummer Alfredo Hernandez).
Scott's first band was during high school: he played drums in a punk band called Dead Issue. When the bass player quit, Scott switched to bass and they got Alfredo Hernandez, the later Kyuss drummer, to play drums.
Scott Reeder names Steve Ferrone, Nick Mason, Bill Stevenson as well as John Bonham, Steve Smith and Josh Freese as his favorite drummers.
