Scott Columbus is best known as drummer of Manowar. He joined the band for their second album, 'Into Glory Ride. Scott was with the band from 1983 until 1990, when he had to leave the band temporarily because his son was ill and he was replaced by Rhino (real name: Kenny Earl) for 'The Triumph of Steel' but returned for 'Louder Than Hell'.
Scott rejoined the group and stayed until April 2008 when he and the band's bassist/leader, Joey DeMaio, "agreed to disagree on a few points of interest" and parted ways in an amiable way.
More recently Scott Columbus had been working on a solo project called Instrumental. The drummer had been keeping in contact with his former manowar bandmates and there were indications that some of them would be collaborating and contributing to specific tracks on his solo project.
Scott Columbus died early in the evening of Monday, April 4 at the age of 54.
