Surf drummer Ron Wilson was the drummer for The Surfaris. Remember their records "Wipe Out" and "Surfer Joe"? Wildon died after a brain aneurysm on May 19, 1989.
History shows that it was the drum solo called, Wipe Out, that was the accepted drum solo for many years... Wipe Out, required just a couple of tom-toms and a snare. Only moderate speeds of playing various combinations from the paradiddle family were used ... (and used very effectively, as history shows).
The (Ron Wilson) Surfaris' drum solo popularity lasted for years until drummers, such as John Bonham, and all the accomplished rock drummers of the late 1960s, started the "post (Rock & Roll) rock" era.
