Rodrigo Villanueva, a Mexico City native, has toured the globe with several jazz and pop projects, including a seven-year tenure as the drummer for Mexican pop singer and actress Lucero.



Rodrigo Villanueva has also toured with other artists including Terry Hankins, Charles McPherson, Eddie Gomez, Clark Terry, Jimmy Owens and more.



As an educator, Rodrigo Villanueva has taught drum set and percussion courses and classes in Mexico, the United States, Peru, Korea and Japan.



Rodrigo Villanueva serves as an associate professor of jazz studies at Northern Illinois University, where he coaches the NIU Jazz Lab Band.
