Robert Sweet was drummer and the "visual timekeeper" in Stryper. Nowadays he plays in Christian rock band Blissed.
A lifelong musician, Sweet got his first drum set at age eight. He started his first band in high school with his brother Mike in the mid-1970s. They started Stryper back in 1983.
Robert was Stryper's band leader and media spokesperson. His striped drums in his band Roxx Regime lead to striped band outfits, and eventually to the name Stryper, an acronym for "Salvation Through Redemtion Yielding Peace and Eternal Righteosness." The band broke up in 1992, after Michael decided to pursue a solo career.
Robert later joined up with members of the band Titanic, forming a new band called Blank. He had a solo-project called "Love Trash", an eyebrow-raising title. He released a debut album in 2000. If you thought the name was curious, check out some of the song titles: “The F Word” (referring to forgiveness), “I’m ?@#$%&!”, and of course the title track, “Love Trash.”
In 2004 Sweet shows up in Christian rock band Blissed, David Pearson and Trevor Barr from the group Static.
