Tnternationally acclaimed percussionist Robert Quintero was born in Caracas, Venezuela where he was surrounded by Afro-Venezuelan and Afro-Cuban rhythms and music.
Robert's father, a respected composer, singer and percussionist in his native country tutored and encouraged Robert on percussion through his adolescent years. Roberto comes from a long line of outstanding musicians which includes his uncle Carlos Nene Quintero and cousin Luisito Quintero. He studied at the conservatory of music in Caracas-Venezuela and with the Orquesta Sinfonica Juvenil de Venezuela. His percussion technique soon garnered attention from his peers.
Robert Quintero became part of the acclaimed and popular music ensembles Grupo Madera and Oscar D’Leon, where he enjoyed worldwide exposure. Besides being known for his skillful congas ability, Quintero also plays bongos drum set, djembe, timbales and wide variety of assorted percussion instruments. Quintero is also dedicated to music education by conducting Latin jazz seminars and master classes in the United States and abroad.
