Robert Perkins' career as a professional drummer in both the jazz and pop/rock fields is on the fast track, as is the growing respect he is gaining for his professionalism and stylistic diversity by both peers and the artists he has worked for. After graduating with honors from the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, Robert has become one of the top-call Drummers on the touring and recording circuit. He has toured the world with Michael Buble, Bobby Watson, Tierney Sutton, The Clayton Brothers, Vanessa Rubin, The Benny Lackner Trio, Ingrid Jensen, and has also performed with Toni Braxton, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Terence Blanchard, Eric Reed, Leon Parker, Clark Terry Jimmy Heath, and recorded with artists as diverse as Dr. Dre, Charlie Hunter, Larry Williams, and Chris Pierce.
Robert is also garnering world wide exposure through extensive touring, recordings, and appearances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Late Night With David Letterman, The Today Show, Malcolm and Eddie, The View, The Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, The Miss Europe Competition, Buena Fuente, The Parkinson Show, The San Remo Festival, Pulse, The Des and Mel Show, Wetten Das, as well as in video with Toni Braxton and Dr. Dre.
Robert’s unique experience of working regularly with the best of the pop and jazz world has given him a unique voice and perspective that are making him increasingly in demand. This experience when combined with his education at the hands of Masters like Michael Carvin, Ndugu Chancler, John Clayton, and Billy Higgins, in such prestigious institutions as the The University of Southern California where he earned a Masters Degree in Music, makes Robert a valuable asset in any performance, recording or educational setting.
