Robert Jenkins is a member of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to his duties with the symphony Robert Jenkins is also an active freelance percussionist, timpanist and drummer. Some of the groups he regularly performs with include the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Opera Company, Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Key West Symphony Orchestra, New Jersey Opera Theater and the Chesapeake Symphony.
Robert Jenkins has extensive experience performing contemporary chamber music having been a founding member of the New Horizons Chamber Ensemble, a Baltimore based group which has dozens of local and world premiers.
As a member of the Global Percussion Trio, Robert Jenkins regularly performs numerous styles of music from around the world. The trio performs tradition African, Cuban and Brazilian music, Middle Eastern frame drumming and American ragtime and Jazz. The Global Percussion Trio is a member of Young Audiences of Maryland and performs concerts throughout the state for elementary, middle and high schools. The trio also travels throughout the nation to conduct master classes, clinics and workshops at universities and conservatories.
As a drum set artist Robert Jenkins has performed in a variety of groups ranging from orchestras, Broadway shows, jazz combos, to funk and rock bands. Additionally he was the house drummer for the Boston Street Theater in Baltimore.
Robert Jenkins has held teaching positions with the Washington DC Youth Orchestra Program and Howard Community College. Robert Jenkins is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music where he was a student of Jonathan Haas.
