Ro Kuijpers was born on July 30, 1957 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. There he was active as a percussionist in Salsa, Samba, and Latin Jazz ensembles.
Ro Kuijpers then spent 6 years in the USA (mostly in Detroit), where he played Jazz. Ro has lived in Freiburg, Germany since 1988, where he is known by the public as a music composer for theater pieces such as “La Strada” and “Gilgamesch.”
Ro Kuijpers has performed with many artists, includigin Al di Meola, Herbie Hancock, Alfredo de la Fé, Nicky Marrero, Earl Klugh, Marcus Belgrave, Nana Vasconcelos, Chocolate Armenteros, Monguito el Unico, Albert Mangelsdorf, Jerry Gonzales, Dave Taylor, Gary Barone, Joia and many others.
