Drummer Ricky Durst literally started playing on pots in the kitchen. His parents then decided to send Ricky to music school where he learned playing drums from a jazz guy. Ricky Durst:

"I did pretty well, but then this teacher left and there wasn't anyone that could really fill in. So I quit the school and started playing in bands, the first serious one being a progressive metal band called Ceress."

Then he met Simon through a friend at a local hardcore show and they decided to jam. He knew a guy who'd play bass and out friend pat hooked us up with our future singer. This band went thru a lot of name changes and bass players and finally ended up being called Mine. Until they split up Mine did various 7" releases plus a full length called "Tetanus", tons of shows and the band even made it over to the USA.



Following Mine Ricky Durst played drums in Damage I.D., again with Simon. This wasn't working out as both musicians wanted to - there were three guys that loved the band and wanted to conquer the world with it and two guys who were more into it for just having fun. Ricky:

"Just around the time where we had problems motivating our singer into more rehearsals, Greg came along and wanted to jam with us - playing more aggressive, fast, metal influenced music. Again it was a "this is it!" experience. We split up Damage and Greg quit his band Cease to form Cataract."

So basically Ricky co- founded the band with Simon and Greg.
