Rick Halverson was born Aug 7th, 1975 in Omaha, Nebraska. He became interested in drums at the young age of 5 years old after hearing KISS Alive at a friendís house.. Rick just knew he wanted to play drums.
Rick Halverson received his first drum kit at age 5 and excelled very quickly. By the age of 12, Rick had formed his first band with some neighborhood friends trying like hell to bust out Iron Maiden, Metallica and KISS riffs! With a few lessons from friend and teacher, Todd Roberson at around 14 years old, Rick quickly became well-known with the older musicians in the Midwest as having impeccable timing and chops well beyond his years.
After roughly five years of playing in hard rock cover bands, Rick Halverson received a highly acclaimed offer from local area speed/thrash metal band Successor in 1992. Rick went on with Successor to play countless shows and metal festivals throughout the Midwest as well as release the recording entitled "End Times" that sold many copies locally through friends and word of mouth.
Rick Halverson is most recognized by his work in Omaha thrash band Narcotic Self. Rick recorded drums for the bandís widely popular sophomore release titled "Blood and Poison." Narcotic Self toured the Midwest region for two years in support of "Blood and Poison" and opened for countless national acts, even headlining several hometown shows selling out 1,000 seat venues.
In addition, Rick Halverson has performed with several other well known names such as Narcotic Self (as mentioned above), Jager Giants and Omaha Legends Cheshire Grin, MetalBlade Recording Artists Cellador, Stephen Pearcy's Ratt, Troy Johnson and Mark Zavon from JRZ System and Guitar Virtuoso Michael Lee Firkins, just to name a few.
Most recently in 2009, Rick Halverson went on to join New York Hardcore Metal Legends Pro-Pain playing drums, replacing JC Dwyer. The band has just recorded their 12th studio record which will be released April 2010 followed by a extremely busy tour schedule for the rest of the year into 2011.
In summation, Rick Halversonís dedication to his craft, along with his solid bone crushing style and technically diverse ablility, has made him an outstanding figure in any band he chooses to perform with.
