Richard Stuverud is an American drummer known for playing in several bands in Seattle scene. His first band was the punk rock band The Fastbacks (in the early 80's), returning in 1987 in the side project of the vocalist Brad Sinsel (who was vocalist of the heavy metal band TKO), called Suicide Squad.
Soon Richard Stuverud joined the War Babies band in 1988, together with Brad Sinsel.
Around the same time Richard Stuverud was one of the drummers Fifth Angel tried. Appearing in the band's video for Time Will Tell, Stuverud was hired by the band full-time, only to jump ship shortly thereafter, leaving Fifth Angel in a bind. Fifth Angel bassist John Macko recalls: "Richard Stuverud was real good and played the songs pretty close to the way Ken played them. Unknown to us, however, Richard had slipped a demo tape of a band he was working with called 'War Babies' to one of the Epic people which I think was his main motivation for doing the video and joining the band."
Richard Stuverud played in War Babies until its demise (1993). Next he drummed in several bands, like the cover band Luv.Co (with Mother Love Bone, War Babies members) and in the band Blind Horse, which feature Bruce Fairweather, ex-guitarrist of Mother Love Bone and bass player in Love Battery.
Since the mid-90's, Richard Stuverud has also played in the band Three Fish, featuring Jeff Ament of Pearl Jam and Mother Love Bone fame.
