Rein de Graaf was best known as Rheinhard Roffel, drummer with Amsterdam, Netherlands based punk band Panic. The group, founded in 1976, was one of the very first European punk bands to play at famous CBGB's in New York in 1978.
Rein de Graaf played on a blue Rogers kit with Paiste cymbals, which he had purchaed from a Jamaican drummer.
After Panic disbanded in 1979, Rein continued drumming in several other bands. Most recently he played in a blues/rock coverband with some friends.
Rein de Graaf named Steward Copeland, Homer Steinweiss, Jay Bellerose and Joey Baron as sources of inspiration.
After battling cancer for nearly two years, Rein de Graaf died on November 5, 2010. He was only 58 years old.
