Daniel John Erlandsson used to be drummer for Eucharist, The End and In Flames. In 1998 Erlandsson replaced Peter Wildoer in Swedish metalband Arch Enemy. The all star supergroup also features the brotherly guitar wizzards Michael (Carnage, Carcass and Spiritual Beggars) and Christopher Amott (Armageddon), Sharlee D'Angelo (Mercyful Fate) on bass and charismatic Angela Gossow from Germany. She is a metal-goddess with a frightening demonic and variable guttural roar, who began her career in 1991 singing for two extreme death metal bands, Asmodina and Mistress. Gossow replaced previous singer Johan Liiva (Carnage) in 2000.
Influenced by drummers like Bill Cobham, Vinny Appice, Dave Lombardo, Scott Travis and many more, Daniel Erlandsson is a perfect example of a modern metaldrummer who plays very tight and with surgical precision, yet always leaving room for feel and swing in his rhythms, perfectly blending classic metal with progressive thrash and death-metal flavours.
Daniel's brother Adrian Erlandsson is very much a drummer in the same vein, pounding the skins with At The Gates and Cradle of Filth.
Daniel Erlandsson uses a Pearl MMX drumkit featuring two 24 x 18 bassdrums, five toms: 10x10, 12 x 10, 13 x 11, 16 x 16 and 18x16, a 14 x 5.5 Ultracast snaredrum, Pearl hardware and Pearl Eliminator bassdrumpedals.
