Jeroen de Rijk is a free-lance professional percussionist based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He is active in studios (▒ 250 CD's), all sorts of live situations and as a clinician for Latin Percussion and Zildjian since 1986. Jeroen also runs his own Baileo Music Productions company (a jazzy label and booking agency) and was chosen 'Best Percussionist of the Benelux' from '98 until '03 and again in '06. He gratefully lives together with 'his' Julia since 1982.
In 1994, Jeroen put out a succesful instruction video named: "Percussion Today". This is available in PAL VHS format and spoken in the Dutch language. "Percussion today" (part 1 of a series) deals with basic techniques & patterns for congas, bongos, timbales, tambourine, triangle, cabasa, shakers & caxixi and shekere in a modern way. The video comes with a booklet that follows the tape in writing. More info?
"Speak low", Jeroen's first solo CD was released in March 1997. Down Beat Magazine (!) gave "Speak Low" a very nice review in their February 1998 issue. For more CD releases, including the second solo CD, please check Baileo Music Productions.

Always waiting for the phones to ring and writing interesting gigs, sessions or events in my digital 'second brain' organizer, at present a P900 SonyEricsson.
Thinking about new projects with my partner Frits Landesbergen and talking to people about these things; thinking again and acting on them.
Spending time with my girlfriend, either at home or in the city, somewhat
embarrased that this doesn't happen often enough.
Spending time with friends, beer and some preferred food, discussing life's important and unimportant matters, feeling like a great philosopher, going back home on my bike.
Hoping that Ajax, my favorite soccer team, will do better and better.
Spending time fooling around with my Mac's G3 and G4, writing columns, diaries, email (mucho), surfing, sampling, arranging, composing in Logic, programming the DDrum 3, the Roland Handsonic or the SPS-S.
Worrying about people I love who suffer in whatever way, trying to help a little bit.
Read at least two books a year and a quality newspaper 5 times a week.
Working out in the gym a bit to prevent inevitable physical deterioration.
Doing the accounts, keeping track of the mileage, chasing long awaited money from record companies (etc.), keeping "the operation" somewhat transparent and understandable for the accountant and the tax guys.
Thinking a lot about just about everything. Listening to music. Doing the dishes.
Driving my car or bike. Reading the newspaper. Taking a bath, shaving. Enjoying and appreciating the pretty sides of life. Hoping the path continues to develop this way.
