Mike Heller (Brooklyn, NY, 1982) studied the drums at the Collective School of Music in New York City. He traces his musical and drumming influences across many genres, including gospel, Latin jazz, and funk. Mike has been known to incorporate these styles into his death metal compositions, although they can be difficult to recognize when played at death metal tempos.
Mike Heller joined the Yonkers, NY-based technical death metal band Malignancy in 2003, replacing Roger J. Beaujard, currently the band's bass guitarist.
In 2008, Mike Heller started the band System Divide with Aborted vocalist Sven de Caluwé and ex-Distorted vocalist Miri Milman.
Mike Heller is currently on tour with industrial metal group Fear Factory, which he joined in April 2012.
Previously Mike also drummed with We of Worms, and Control/Resist. He has also recorded in the studio with bands and artists including Zillah, Azure Emote, Excommunicated, Edei, Ryann, Measure, Control/Resist, Razorcult, Chikatillo, Pseudo Supremacy, Hollow, Death Dealer, and Cryosaur among others.
