Peter Jones was born in Liverpool, UK. He had worked as a school teacher and played drums as a session musician with bands like Harem Scarem, Deadstar and Stove Top, as well as an early-1990s incarnation of The Saints.
Late in 1994, original drummer Paul Hester left Crowded House citing the lengthy touring schedules as a reason. He was replaced by Peter Jones for the remaining concerts. Peter also played on the live concert cd 'Farewell to the World'. The band, whose hits include Don't Dream It's Over and Something So Strong broke up two years later.
Although Crowded House reunited in 2007, Peter Jones did not join them.
Peter Jones also played as a session drummer with Ross Hannaford, Rowland S. Howard, Lisa Miller, Kate Ceberano, Tinpan Orange and Melbourne musician David Hosking.
Peter Jones died in May 2012 after a battle with brain cancer. He was only 45 years old.
