Pete LaRussa (Brooklyn, NY, 1976) started playing drums at age nine. He is a self taught musician (Pete also taught himself to play guitar, bass & sing lead vocals as well).
LaRussa was the initial drummer in NY hardcore outfit Most Precious Blood. With LaRussa behind the drum kit, the band played their first three shows; a show at Brooklyn’s L'Amour, a show at CBGB's the following day and a blistering set at Under The Couch in Atlanta.
However, Pete LaRussa was soon replaced by Pat Flynn (Indecision drummer between 1993-2000). The reason LaRussa was replaced so quickly was because he couldn't tour with the band. Thus began the infamous Spinal Tap-esque legacy of Most Precious drummers...
LaRussa didn't play on the actual tracks of Most Precious Blood's album "Nothing In Vain" but appears on the 6 song demo recording that is at the end of the cd after the actual album has finished. These demo tracks got Most Precious Blood signed to Trustkill Records.
Pete LaRussa is currently playing drums for The Bronx hardcore band District 9. Previously he briefly played with this band in 2001.
He also played in well known New York Hardcore band No Redeeming Social Value (where he is sometimes referred to as Pete The Meat on drums). No Redeeming Social Value - 1996 to 1998. Pete recorded on "The 3 Way Dance" complilation cd as well as the NRSV full length album "THC" released in 1999.
In addition to those bands, LaRussa sat in as a session drummer for Inhuman in 1999 (recorded a song with the band for the "Only The Strong" complilation released by Victory Records in 2000).
Pete Larussa also sat in as live session drummer for Q*ball, featuring Ron Thal a.k.a Bumblefoot (Guns N' Roses), in the summer of 2002.
