Pat McGrath played drums in California's Steel Prophet, one of the most important bands on the US power metal scene in recent years. He joined the band in 1998, replacing Pete Parada (Gene Loves Jezebel/Face to Face/Engine).
That same year the band signed a new record deal with Nuclear Blast Records and released the critically acclaimed "Dark Hallucinations" in the spring of 1999 which featured Pat McGrath. Previously he had played in Prototype, Riot and Killing Culture.
