Omar Phillips' interest in playing percussion began as a teenager and, like many R&B artists, his first real gig was accompanying his church choir. The local club scene in Atlanta soon followed.
Omar’s first major tour was with the R&B group, Atlantic Starr and since then he has become one of Atlanta’s hottest R&B and Hip-Hop studio drummer/percussionist, performing with Arrested Development, Erykah Badu, India.Arie, Keith Sweat, Goodie Mob, Outkast, Donnell Jones, Jagged Edge and Jermaine Dupri as well as Neo-Soul sensation, Donnie.
More recenelty Phillips has tracked cymbal overdubs for Outkast’s Big Boi, tracked drums and/or percussion for "Got Purp Vol.II" by Purple Ribbon All Stars, Outkast’s "Idlewild", "Pictures" by The Tony Rich Project, Speech's "Da Vagabond". He also recorded with Prince's bassist Rhonda Smith (on her album "Plain Azz Hip", "Un-Titled" by Laura Izabor, a gifted eighteen-year-old prodigy from Ireland of Irish/African descent, and on "Sleepless" by The Girls.
Omar Phillips also toured with Arrested Development (on their Australia “Good Vibrations” tour), and The SOS Band (on their “Feel Funk” tour in The Netherlands).
