Niklas Lundgren drummed in Swedish metal outfit Meshuggah.
Formed in Umeå, Sweden, Meshuggah came together after the band members progressed through local bands Metallien and Calipash and a first aborted Meshuggah line-up.
The second and lasting incarnation of the band came together in time for 1989's self-titled EP, and featured Niklas Lundgren on drums. The EP, a competent thrash metal release, earned the band a recording contract with the Nuclear Blast label.
Recruiting Tomas Haake to replace Lundgren, the band released their full length debut, Contradictions Collapse, in 1991.
Since then Meshuggah's music has evolved from primal Metallica-esque thrash through to an intricate technical progressive metal, lauded for their technical ability and abstract visions.
