Nico Manssens plays drums in sample artist, turntablist and sound wizzard Jerboa's live band, along with percussionist Jesse Roosen. Nico Manssens has also worked with Nathalie Loriers, Jan De Haas, Nicolas Kummert, Philippe Robrecht, Antoon Walgrave and Trixie Whitley among others.



Biography:

Happily hitting the drums since the age of twelve Nico Manssens found himself playing lot's of different music very soon through good private teachers and serious music academy training. So he decided it was time for the next step at the jazz department of the conservatory in his home town,Antwerp. It is in this period he was taught and influenced by guys like Jan De Haas, Dré Pallemaerts, Stéphane Galland , Chander Sardjoe and Billy Hart.



This wide range of influences and personal investigations into jazz, polyrhythmic concepts, Brazilian & Cuban music and good ol' rock&roll led to an active career in music. On the jazz side of things Nico Manssens has performed with musicians like Nathalie Loriers, Jan De Haas, Nicolas Kummert, Marco Locurcio, even Toots Thielemans and is currently playing with Zoshia and Fables of Fungus.



At the same time Nico Manssens has been working with singer/songwriters like Philippe Robrecht, Antoon Walgrave and Trixie Whitley as well as laying down fat grooves for dj Jerboa and Skeemz.



Recently Nico Manssens has hooked up with Roberto Olivan's Enclave Dance company, performing all over the world with the Farra performance.
