Nick Woud is one of the timpanists in the Dutch Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, alongside Marinus Komst.



Nick Woud leads the orchestra from the solo timpani chair. He joined in 2002 after having studied with Jan Labordus of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Nick has made it a point to keep the long-established Amsterdam timpani customs alive, with minor additions of their own.



Nick Woud enjoys teaching as well as playing, and, for the last 11 years, has taught at the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music. He also enjoys composing, and has published two timpani methods as well as compositions for various instrumentations and music for radio and television.
