Nick Emmett began his involvement in the marching arts in 1987 as a member of a local Boys Brigade band. He progressed to marching snare as a founder member of Northern Star, where he is currently in his 5th year as head of percussion.
He has had the pleasure of learning from several influential British marching percussion educators over the years including Lonsdale Gayle, Gary Powell, Gavin Morgan and Nigel Rawse.
He is also the 2006 percussion arranger for Distant Thunder.
Nick Emmett spent three years at the City of Leeds College of Music where he graduated in 1996 with a Graduate Diploma in Jazz, Contemporary and Popular music after studying under several British Jazz greats.
Outside drum corps Nick Emmett works for one of the UK's largest insurance companies as a Development Trainer and also plays guitar in the rock group Fair Warning.
Nick Emmett is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, the National Association of Percussion Teachers and the Vic Firth Education team.
