Caption Head/Battery Percussion Arranger - Nick Angelis has been involved in drum and bugle corps since 1980. Starting at the age of five, he consecutively marched until his age-out year in 1995. He was a member of The Satellites Drum and Bugle Corps of Leicester, Ma, the Spartans (N.H.), The Boston Crusaders, Blue Knights, Santa Clara Vanguard winning the World Champion Snare Drum Title and the Star of Indiana receiving the high percussion award. In 1994, he performed as a snare drum soloist with Star of Indiana's "Brass Theater featuring the Canadian Brass"
Angelis was hired as the original featured performer/snare soloist for the Tony and Emmy Award winning Broadway hit Blast!. From its inception in September 1999, Angelis was quickly encompassed into more aspects of the show, while touring internationally. He achieved star status when the show reached Broadway. In all, Angelis performed in close to 1000 performances over the course of three and a half years, including an opening solo performance for the Kennedy Center Honors for President Clinton and patrons.
Angelis has been involved with drum and bugle corps since he was five. He marched with the Satellites from Leicester, MA., spent two years with the Spartans of New Hampshire, followed by another two years with the Boston Crusaders. Angelis then moved to California to march with the Santa Clara Vanguard where he became the 1992 Drum Corps International Rudimental Snare Drum World Champion.
In 1993, he marched with the award winning percussion section for the Star of Indiana and won the Drum Corps Midwest Individual Snare Drum Title. In 1994, Nick performed during the inaugural year of The Star of Indiana's presentation, called Brass Theater featuring The Canadian Brass, as a snare drum soloist. In 1995 Nick marched with the Blue Knights from Denver, CO.
Nick attended the University of Massachusetts for Music Education. He has taught the University of Massachusetts Minutemen Marching Band, Crossmen, Boston Crusaders, Troopers, Spartans and many more. Currently, Nick is focusing on education as percussion instructor for the two-time Bands of America Finalist Kennesaw Mountain High School Marching Band and is Percussion Caption Head for Spirit of JSU Drum & Bugle Corps.
