Razzle, born Nicholas Charles Dingley was the drummer of Finnish glam rock band Hanoi Rocks from 1982 until his death in December 1984.
Born in Royal Leamington Spa, England, Nicholas Dingley was adopted by Henry and Irene Dingley, growing up in Coventry and then in Binstead, Isle of Wight.
Prior to joining Hanoi Rocks, Razzle had played in UK-based bands Thin Red Line, The Fuck Pigs, Demon Preacher (Featurning Nik Fiend of later Alien Sex Fiend fame), and The Dark.
In 1983 Sam Yaffa disclosed that he and Razzle were planning to leave the band "citing Andy McCoy's insufferable behaviour as the main factor."
In late 1984 Hanoi Rocks was on their first American tour. Frontman Michael Monroe fractured his ankle, so the band had to skip a few gigs and take a break. During that break, Mötley Crüe's singer Vince Neil invited the band to visit his home, in California.
The Hanoi Rocks drummer was killed on December 8, 1984 in a tragic car accident. Razzle was a passenger in a car driven by Motley Crue's singer Vince Neil.
The two bands were at a party given in honor of the Finnish band’s first US tour, when Neil and Razzle decided to make a run to the liquor store. As the car made its way around the winding Hollywood road, Neil lost control of the vehicle and smashed into another car. All involved sustained injuries, but Razzle was less fortunate. He was taken to South Bay Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival. He was only 24 years old.
Nicholas Dingley / Razzle was buried at Holy Cross Church in Binstead, Isle of Wight in 1984.
Hanoi Rocks soldiered on briefly, bringing in former Clash drummer Terry Chimes to finish off some standing European dates, but shortly after, the band called it a day.
