Scottish drummer Mike Ogletree joined Simple Minds on the departure of previous skinsman Kenny Hyslop. Ogletree only had a short time as drummer for the Simple Minds. The reason for his leaving was due to the fact that his son Luke got leukaemia during the time he was on top of the pops as the band were performing "Promised You A Miracle". Eventually Mel Gaynor became the quintet's permanent drummer.



After Ogletree left the band he joined Fiction Factory. After the success of Feels Like Heaven he then moved to Italy where he was in a band called Tomato.



After that Ogletree moved to Los Angeles, United States and married a woman he had met in Italy and joined the Church of Scientology on Hollywood Blvd. That was around 1990.



He has lived there ever since performing for all the money making initiatives that require the skills of a world class musician.
