Michael Paiste worked hand in hand with his dad, Robert, and Freddy Studer at Paiste Cymbals. His first designs were introduced in 1992. Michael was responsible, while at Paiste, for a lot of the more esoteric designs in the Traditionl and Signature Series.
Creative differences caused a parting of ways around 1998 and Michael Paiste started to make completely hand hammered cymbals and gongs. Many of his gongs are made of brass and the difference between the brass and bronze alloys is striking and really set Michael's creations apart.
Drummer and symbalsmith Michael Paiste is now in business for himself at the Swiss Custom Shop in Luzern.
