Artist biography Michael "Lil Mike" Mitchell
Even for a 12 year old, Lil Mike Mitchell has made accomplishments that drummers at any age would have loved to have attained at such an early stage in life. Lil Mike, a Texas native, who began his drumming career at age 3, played on his first live recording at the ripe young age of seven. That first recording lead to a spotlight article in the Fort Worth Star Telegram Newspaper referring to him as a professional drummer in progress. While most second graders were playing with toy trucks, Lil Mike Mitchell was playing drums in his fathers band, performing at intermission and doing sound checks.
He has since recorded and/or accompanied many local and national artists such as Gods Property Troopers, the Dallas Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, producer/songwriter Bobby Sparks and producer/songwriter Greg Curtis to name a few.
More recently, Lil Mike played on a live television taping with contemporary gospel artist Myron Butler & Levi as they sang their No. #1 gospel hit song Set Me Free In March of 2005, Lil Mike Mitchell contributed to musical history by becoming the youngest drummer ever to be featured on the internationally acclaimed Drummers for Jesus Concert in Dallas, Texas. He shared the stage with some of the worlds most talented drummers and percussionists respectively, Alex Acuna, John Blackwell, Jr., Teddy Campbell, Sean McCurley and many more.
Lil Mikes Mitchell's knowledge of drums and advanced skills were impressive enough to get the attention of his mentors Aaron Spears, Gerald Heyward, Ronald Bruner, Jr., Chris Dave, Gorden Campbell, Jason J.T.Thomas and Robert Sput Searight. He has also participated in many drum competitions winning out over drummers anywhere from five to thirty years his senior. He attributes his musical gift and accomplishments to God. In his own words, his passion and love for all genres and styles of music gives him an edge for creativity and a signature sound.

I really enjoyed the question and answer period most about the clinic,Mike says. His plans are to attend Berklee College of Music and also to become a University band professor and clinician. Mike endorses Ddrum, Evans, Sabian and Vater products.
Lil Mike Mitchell is currently a 6th grade student at Miller Elementary School where he also plays in the band. He looks forward to matriculating through Junior High and High School and being a part of the music scene.
