When he was 5 years old Matthias got his first Drumset and started learning Music. Till 2001 he studied at the "Drummer Institute in Düsseldorf" (D) with Jürgen Pfeiffer and developed a classical snare technik.



At that time he made first conctact with Jazz Music and Herbie Hancock is becoming his idol. In 2002 he studied at the "Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten Arnhem HKA" (NL) with Joop van Erven and René Creemers. 2 years later Matthias changed to the Conservatory in Enschede (NL) and got lessons from Hans Dekker and Joost van Schaik.



At the moment he studies at the "Folkwang Hochschule Essen" (D) with Spiri Kara and Thomas Alkier. Next to playing concerts in different groups Matthias is always searching for new influences and inspirations in Workshops and from well known teachers like Jiggs Wigham, Peter Weniger, John Ruocco, Thomas Stabenow or Bart van Lier.
