Matt Racovalis played drums in Alarum until he departed in August 2006. He won a 'Best Drummer' Award during the first annual Australian Heavy Metal Music Awards, February 4, 2005.





Matt Racovalis was talked into learning drums by a friend at school at 13. His sister's boyfriend put him onto Iron maiden and he never looked back. Got into old school german thrash listening to Alan Thomas metal show on RRR. Drum teacher John Moring introduced him to Jazz Fusion. Bands like Athiest and Watchtower showed that metal and jazz could be fused.
