Matt Higginbotham was fascinated with drums at an early age. At his elementary school in a suburb of Atlanta, GA, he was blown away by a drum show put on by the 5th graders at the school. He took the inspiration he acquired from watching his fellow classmates play drums and eventually started taking drum lessons after school.
The passion didn't die after elementary school. Matt Higginbotham went on to play percussion in the middle school band and drum set in jazz band; and then started gigging with rock bands in high school.
After high school Matt Higginbotham began playing with some local country bands and artists. During that time he had the opportunity to play all over the southeast opening for major country acts at venues including large dance clubs, amphitheaters, and stadiums.
Matt Higginbotham took a gig as the drummer in the house band at Atlanta's Cowboys Dance Hall in 2009, where he shared the stage with national touring country acts each week.
While playing a gig in his hometown Snellville, GA, Matt Higginbotham met a young girl named Rachel Farley who was singing that day at the venue. After keeping in touch with Rachel over the next several years, he was asked by Rachel to play drums in her newly forming band.
Shortly after he joined, Rachel recorded her debut album under producer Michael Knox. Shortly thereafter, Rachel was brought onto Jason Aldean's 'My Kinda Party' tour in July of 2012. Matt Higginbotham is currently playing drums on this tour to sold-out amphitheaters and arenas across the country.
