Drummer Mark Pickerel played in The Screaming Trees. Around 1989 Nirvana-frontman Kurt Cobain had designs on forming a group around Pickerel , with assistance from Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and Screaming Trees vocalist Mark Lanegan. The band was to be named Jury or Lithium, but it never materialized. Several songs they played together, ended up on the Nirvana box set "With the Lights Out".
