Marco Bussi was born on January, 19th 1982 at Siegen, Germany where he still lives with his parents descending from Uruguay, South America.
Marco Bussi's biography in his own words:
I already knew with two years that I wanted to be a drummer. (poor boy...) And I started studying on buckets, tins and water cans at our camping trips in Spain or Italy. With five years I started to play percussions like shakers, triangles etc. with our family band which played latin music. But also there I wanted to play real Drums in a real Band. And it was not so simple than I thought - my parents who also are musicians first let me play the recorder and then the piano for 4 years till I finally could start with drum lessons when I was nine.
I started with Horst Waldeck, the solo timpani player of the orchestra in which my father plays. So I got a classical basis for later playing the drumset. I'm very happy of that because I was able to play in a big variety of ensembles. I started to play in orchestras and marching bands and later got over to pop, rock and jazz. For me a big teacher was Keith Copeland who gave me lessons since 1999. He showed me what it is to play Jazz and it helped me a lot.
Now I'm glad to play in high-range projects and im happy all the time I do music. I also try to keep a big variety of styles in my playing. Musical openness is one essential fact - I also try to teach this to my students. The different musical styles fascinate me and they make the playing more valuable because you can use more vocabulary. Without this vocabulary you can't express yourself. It's the most important thing in doing music and I as a human realize that I have to express a lot.
